Every lettings operation eventually needs a report that isn't on the menu. Not the standard demographic or occupancy numbers — something specific to how this portfolio actually runs, that nobody thought to build a screen for in advance. Usually that means an email to whoever can write SQL, and a wait.
Describe it, or write it yourself
An admin can now describe what they want to the Custom Reports Assistant — "show me new enquiries by channel" — and it writes the query. Prefer to write it yourself? The same builder is right there, with every available view listed beside it and a live preview against real data before anything is saved, so a typo shows up immediately, not after someone's relying on the number.
Pick a date range each time you run it
Reference :date_from and :date_to in the query and the builder turns them into an actual date-range picker — past week, past month, current month, or a custom range — right there while you're testing it. Save the report, and that same picker travels with it: whoever runs it later chooses their own window each time, rather than the report being frozen to whatever dates the author happened to test with.
The database enforces the boundary, not the SQL
A staff-written query is still a query written by a person, so it never touches a raw table. It can only select from a curated set of read-only views, each scoped to the company (and, if the report is pinned to one client, that client) by the database itself — not by trusting whatever the SQL happens to say. Anything that doesn't resolve to one of those views is rejected before it runs, not flagged after.
Built for handing off, not just for the author
A saved report can be shared with the whole team or kept private, and its scope — company-wide or one specific client — is fixed at creation, so everyone who runs it sees the same data regardless of what they've got selected elsewhere. Anyone it's shared with can run it and export straight to CSV or Excel.
Worth saying plainly: it's CSV and Excel-compatible exports today, not a native .xlsx file, and there's no scheduled email delivery yet — see the security page for how the view-based isolation actually works, or the full walkthrough to see it built end to end.
